These two delightful faces belong on each side of the arch to the south door in Westborough Church of All Saints in the Loveden deanery.

Despite the damage to his nose, which makes him look like an ex-boxer, the man has an unmistakable humorous expression as if he’s just heard the punchline of a good joke.

His lady has lost even more of her nose, but smiles gently and kindly on those below.

The carvings are not much above head height, so the faces are easy to see.

Does your church have some faces like these?

If so, send a jpeg photograph and details of what and where the carving is, to jane.ford@waitrose.com, and we can feature some more of them on this page.

The Lincolnshire Churches Trust Bike Ride and Stride takes place annually,
usually on the second Saturday of September between 10 am and 6pm.

A key to the success of the event is to have local organisers in the
Deaneries who are willing to promote the event to encourage more people to
participate. These Deanery Organisers have much needed local knowledge and
contacts, without their efforts we would not be able to raise the
much-needed funds to help preserve our wonderful places of worship.

We now have vacancies for Deanery Organisers in the following areas:

Haverstoe (Waltham, Immingham area)

Louthesk (Louth area)

Christianity (Lincoln)

East & West Holland (Boston area)

Deanery Organisers are volunteers who give their time freely to help the
Trust. You will need to distribute posters and sponsorship forms to your
parishes, collect sponsorship money and promote the event within your
community.

If you would like more information please contact Nicholas Ridley, County
Organiser, Swinstead Hall, Swinstead, Grantham NG33 8PH (telephone 01476
550055) or email Sarah Roberts at roberts.sarahm@gmail.com
