AT MOUSE HALL, CAYTHORPE
Thanks to an invitation from the generous owner, Ben Lyte, the Trust was able to hold a fundraiser at short notice in Ben’s magical garden in Caythorpe, on the afternoon of Saturday July 9th.
There was jazz music provided by the Thom Whitworth Quartet, luxurious strawberry and cream teas, sumptuous cakes, plants and bric-a-brac to entertain visitors as well as welcome sunshine after a worryingly wet morning!
The garden is made up of a great many different areas and “rooms” with nooks and crannies to hide away in and many unusual features built by Ben himself over the years, including favourites like a “gothic” window made out of table legs and halves of an old drain! There was also a pond ~ very green ~ to trap the unwary and enclosed areas which would be wonderful for a game of hide-and-seek.
Our sincere thanks go to Ben and to all who attended or helped to organise the event. Watch this space for details of the repeat event in 2017, once everything has been finalised.
