On the evening of 13th October 2016 those of us who attended the Autumn Party at Sleaford St Denys’ church were treated to a wonderful evening’s entertainment by historian Lesley Smith, who presented an enthralling and atmospheric monologue, in full costume, as Anne Boleyne. She presented the tumultuous events of Anne’s life from her own point of view and put her own, very complicated, side to events. The evening was both extremely informative in detail and also very moving, as she brought an entirely new perspective to the whole concept of having a “difficult husband”!
We were also able to sample the delights of the beautiful interior of this magnificent church and also their very smart and up-to-the-minute new toilet facilities which were introduced a few years ago.
Many thanks to all who attended and helped to organise the event and especially to Lesley Smith for making it a truly memorable evening.
